5G is already in Greece and introduces a new era in the world of the Internet worldwide, as well as huge opportunities for the development of business models that for years were pure fantasy. With the incredibly high speeds it provides, it is going to change our lives for the better by functioning as a supplement to exponential technologies, such as the Cloud, the Internet of Things and Artificial Intelligence. But how exactly?
The objective of the 5G Crowdhackathon is to highlight and help develop 5G-related applications and products that meet current challenges and place our country at the forefront of the European Strategy on high connectivity.
We invite individuals, teams and companies to work on related ideas and concepts in order to develop solutions and present use cases, as well as innovative applications utilizing the 5G network.
Through the participation of supporters and organizations, the 5G Crowdhackathon provides an open innovation platform for the implementation of pilot applications (proof-of-concepts), as well as support for the effective operation of the applications, thus resulting in the development of new innovative and sustainable business models utilizing the 5G network to suit the needs of our country.
In addition to the main benefits of high-speed connection, 5G networks and their applications can provide a unique opportunity for sustainable development in our country. The development of new networks will give a big boost to investments in the network infrastructures and applications to be developed, thus benefiting the Greek economy.
The 5G networks should play a major role in the digital transformation of the Greek society, strengthen the competitiveness of the economy and improve the life of the citizens. Their development will lead the fourth industrial revolution, developing new business models and introducing a new way of working and living through the use of advanced digital technologies, such as Artificial Intelligence, the Internet of Things, the use of computing power in wireless networks, augmented reality, unmanned vehicles and robotics.
Remote patient monitoring, high-definition video consulting, interconnected ambulances and the use of AR / VR technology in medical staff training are just some of the uses of 5G in the healthcare sector.
